Certification Requirements
Prerequisites
Bachelor's degree or higher in a healthcare field, or at least 3 years of neurofeedback experience in a professional setting.
Submission of a CV detailing education and professional experience.
Fees
$200 non-refundable application fee upon submission.
Study References and Forms
Completion of reading and media study covering:
- Neurofeedback history and research.
- EEG and instrumentation.
- Neuroscience, treatment planning, and professional conduct.

Submission of forms with three key ideas summarized from each chapter or section. Download Forms.
Course Attendance
Completion of the EEG Info Introductory Course (live attendance) within the past 2 years. Submission of a certificate of completion required.
Completion of:
- Practicum 1 and/or
- Mastering Neurofeedback, Next Level Neurofeedback, Synchrony Training Course, and Alpha-Theta Course (in-person or online).
These are required for initial certification.
Mentoring
10 hours of individual or group mentoring with an Othmer Method-certified provider.
Submission of the Mentoring Form upon completion.
Personal Neurofeedback Training
Completion of:
- 20 sessions of Infra-low Frequency training.
- 10 sessions of Alpha-Theta training.
- Submission of all session notes required.
Clinical Experience
A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in neurofeedback.
Completion of 400 neurofeedback sessions with at least 20 unique clients.
Written Case Presentation
A detailed case presentation for one client:
- Must include at least 20 sessions within the past 12 months.
- Demonstration of mastery of the Othmer Method through:
- Assessment and reassessment information.
- Session notes.
- A written summary of the decision-making process and lessons learned.
- Pre-post outcome measurements (e.g., QIK Test) are required.
Submission must adhere to the current version of the Protocol Guide.
Recertification Every Two Years
Attendance at one of the following:
- EEG Info 5-day Introductory Course.
- Mastering Neurofeedback.
- In-person attendance at the Advanced Clinical Summit.
Submission of a new written case presentation, following the guidelines above.
Updated certification requirements apply if a clinician's certification lapses:
- If previously excluded elements (e.g., practicum weekends, additional readings) are now part of the requirements, they must be completed during re-certification.
Notes
Ensure that all submissions are complete and accurate to prevent delays in certification or recertification.
Certification requirements are subject to change. Clinicians are responsible for meeting the current requirements at the time of submission.
